4 days adventure jungle trekking to learn the way how to survive in the forest and camping in the deep jungle, camping 2 nights and spend 1 night in Khmu Ethnic remote village and visit the huge cave in Muang Xay​ (Oudomxay Loop).   Code:MX4002. 

Overview:

The​ best and new experience what you have never had and done before and there are no any tour agencies do it in Laos. This​ is the quite hard and difficult jungle trekking to explore the nice forest,​ walk up and​ down mountains through the jungle, go crossing and along river, learning how to survive with finding natural food, catching fish(fishing), frogs, crabs, putting traps to catch the mice and set up small camp/camps by using banana leaves, drink boiled water/nature tea, make bamboo cups for drinking water and sleeping in the jungle. This trek, you can see and hear the beautiful sound of animals, birds, squirrels and chipmunks singing in morning when you wake up and you also can hear them in the evening before getting dark. The good point of this trekking, it will teach you the ways how to survive in the jungle when you do a jungle trekking by yourself /yourselves.

Day1: Muang​ ​Xay​ Town​-Namon​ Village – jungle trekking -​camping point. (_/L/D)

Meet your guide at your guesthouse /hotel in Muang Xay Town and start the tour​ at 8:30 am in the morning to Namon village /trekking point by a private car​/Tuk​Tuk,​ it takes ​between 25​-30​minutes. Then we walk up down through the rice and corn fields and go up and down through the jungle and have a picnic lunch on the trek by using green leaves to make a tray/table for putting our local food on. After having lunch, we keep going until 2-3 pm to find a good place for camping, this is the time that we have to help each other building a little hut/hut by using banana leaves/other leaves for roofing and make a bed for sleeping. After finishing building the hut/huts, we collect firewood, make a fire, find some natural food (catching fish, crabs and vegetables), this activity is you have to follow your guide/guides and cook it in the bamboo /pot (if necessary), make banana leave spoon for our picnic dinner and put some traps for catching the mouse/mice in the evening for breakfast next day morning.

After having dinner, we will go to catch the frogs and crabs at night by using torch/light for 30 minutes /1 hours or 2 hours (depends on you and your guides how much time you need and then go back to camp for going to bed.

Approximately: 25-30 minutes -1 hour for car transferring /4-5hour trekking.  Trekking level: moderate, quite hard and difficult.

Day2: camping point -​camping point. (B/L/D)

After visiting traps that we put for catching mouse /mice from Day1 evening and having breakfast, we continue our trekking along river though the jungle and find a good place for camping, build a hut/2 hut, collect woods for making a fire (do like day 1)​. On the trek we can collect some vegetables from the forest, catching crabs, cook it in bamboo /pot (if necessary), make bamboo bowls and banana leave spoons and have lunch on the trek there. After having lunch, explore the forest and find some food again for dinner and put traps in the afternoon /evening before getting dark.

After dinner, at night we will go hunting crabs and frogs again by using torch /light for our breakfast next day morning. In this hunting time, we will take 1 hour or 2 hours to catching frogs and crabs (depends you and your guides how much time you need) and then come back to our camp for sleeping.

Approximately: 3-4-hour trekking.  Trekking level: quite hard and difficult.

Day3: camping point -​Namchong ​village -​Namhaeng​ village. (B/L/D)

After having breakfast, we will continue our trekking to Namchong village and have lunch there. On the trek, we will walk along river, climb up the little waterfall (difficult point), up and down mountains (1000 meters high from sea level) through the forest and heading to Namchong village and have lunch (basic local food) there after exploring the village. After having lunch, we keep going to Namhaeng village, have basic local food,​ spend overnight with local family there (basic room).

Approximately: 4-5-hour trekking.  Trekking level: hard and difficult and moderate.

Day4: Namhaeng​ village -​ Chom​Ong​ ​Cave​ -​back Muang​ Xay​ ​Town ​by a private car transfer. (B/L/_)

After having breakfast in the morning, we take our private car /Tuk Tuk direct to Chong Ong Cave, it takes between 25-30 minutes and explore the huge and beautiful cave inside (you can decide how much time you need to spend there) and then drive back Muang Xay Town by a private car/Tuk Tuk. It takes 1 hour and 30​minutes​ back.

  • Trek starts: At 8:30 am at your guesthouse in town.
  • Trek ends: at 4:00 pm at your guesthouse in town.

What you should bring for the trek:
Sleeping bag, good boots and sandals /flip-flops for crossing river, warm clothes, clothes for changing, hat/cap, mosquito spray, equipment. sunscreen, sunglasses, raincoat, toothpaste to protect the leeches (apply it on your shoes), light/torch.
